Free Download: Legacy Step Sequencer Expansion (Max4Live)

This download is for Live 9 (Max 6 or 7) users only.

The Legacy Step Sequencer is one of our favorite Max for Live devices. It is both powerful and versatile. And, the beautiful thing about Max for Live is that you can not only make new devices, but modify old ones!

We’ve implemented a handful of modifications for this device in the years since Max for Live was released. We’d like to share these modifications with you in one single expansion. Check out what we’ve been up to…

We’ve also replaced the ‘randomize’ button and the ‘sequence shift’ buttons….

…with mappable buttons.

Improved the device’s preset module: In the original expansion, saving a preset required your entering a preset name in a pop-up window. This process caused playback to freeze. Here, we’ve added a text field, into which the preset name is entered.

Added a series of number boxes with which to manipulate the number of steps in the selected sequence.

Added buttons to transpose the selected layer’s notes up or down one octave

And added the ability to copy the MIDI data from one layer of the sequence into another.
